Nancy Atkinson: Optometrist

B App Sc (Optom)
Masters of Business Adminstration
Grad Cert (Ocular Therapeutics)

Nancy has over 20 years of clinical experience is all areas of optometry. Nancy completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Optometry) at QUT and later completed a Master of Business Administration and Sports Vision Accreditation. She has also completed a post graduate qualification in optometry allowing her to prescribe ocular therapuetic medication. She has served on the Optometrists Board of Queensland and the Board of Royal Blind Foundation and is a former Director of the Optometrists Association of Australia (OAA), QLD/NT, having servied as President in 2003-2004. She is also a committee member on the Registration and Notification Committee for the Australian Health Practicioner Regulation Agency (AHORA), which is responsible for registering optometrists in Australia.

With two children of her own, Nancy has a keen interest in children’s vision. She is also passionate about contact lens fitting, Myopia control in children, eye disease diagnosis, monitoring and management.

Michael White: Optometrist

B Vis Sc (with Distinction)
M Optom (with Distinction)

Michael completed his Bachelor of Vision Science (with Distinction) in 2014 and Master of Optometry (with Distinction) in 2016 from Queensland of University of Technology (QUT). Michael is therapeutically qualified to prescribe ocular medication to manage eye disease. 

He has gained several years of clinical experience in a variety of different optometry settings both in Brisbane and Melbourne. 

Michael enjoys all facets of optometry, with a particular interest in ocular pathology, myopia control, and contact lenses, including Orthokeratology (Ortho-K). 

Morag Hertweck: Optometrist

Grad Cert (Ocular Therapeutics)

Morag graduated from from Queensland University of Technology with first class honours in 1994. She has subsequently completed her Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics which enables her to prescribe therapeutic drugs for the treatment of eye diseases.

Morag has also completed post graduate study in Behavioural Optometry which fostered her keen interest in children’s vision and Myopia control in children. She is a member of the Australasian College of Behavioral Optometrists and now with two children of her own, Morag enjoys examining children with an enhanced understanding of their developmental milestones and needs.

Morag has been a part of the of the optometric team at Toowong Optometrists since 2000.

Greg Speers: Optical Dispenser

DIP Optical Dispensing

Greg commenced at the practice over 25 years ago and has worked in the optical industry for more than 35 years.

Greg qualified initially as an optical mechanic/dispenser and spent several years working in the spectacle frame industry as a frame importer.

Utilising his vast industry network, Greg keeps abreast of the latest lens technology and frame fashions. He brings in to the practice a wealth of knowlege about frames and lenses, and is both passionate and skilled in helping make the right selections for customers.
